High-performance M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine.
The latest version of the high-performance M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine guarantees performance in keeping with the latest standards. The high-revving unit develops an output of 460 kW (625 hp). The two turbochargers stand out thanks to their cross-cylinder bank exhaust manifold with optimum response characteristics. The V8 engine is also designed for extreme loads on the race track.
Adaptive M suspension.
The Adaptive M suspension makes it possible to adjust the damper characteristics to suit any given driving situation, increasing driving dynamics and comfort. In addition to the standard COMFORT setting for increased driving comfort, the SPORT programme offers firmer damper settings, and with SPORT+, the vehicle can be used on the race track.
M xDrive.
BMW M xDrive with Active M differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the drive variants 4WD, 4WD Sport and – in DSC-off mode – 2WD.
8-speed M Steptronic transmission.
The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: from extremely dynamic to particularly comfortable, and smooth to fuel-saving. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or put the vehicle into automatic mode and let the transmission do the work.
M Carbon ceramic brake.
With the optional M Carbon ceramic brake, the use of braking power is even more direct, it is corrosion-free, even more heat-resistant, greatly reduced in wear and contributes to weight savings, which has a positive effect on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The special technical equipment is visible through calipers in the colour gold matt with M lettering on the outside. Due to specific material properties, increased operating noise may occur during braking, e.g. in case of prolonged, low load or in wet conditions shortly before vehicle standstill. The design-related noise can be avoided by braking the brake dry in case of wetness or loading the brake more heavily after a long low braking load. The influence of wetness and road salt cause brake effectiveness to correspond to that of a conventional brake system. This reduced braking power can be compensated for with a greater pressure on the pedal. The functional noises have no influence on the performance, operational safety and stability of the brake.
M MODE.
Use the M MODE button on the centre console to adjust the control intensity of the driver assistance systems. The ROAD mode offers the full range of functions of the electronic assistants. In the SPORT setting, they only warn but do not intervene. With TRACK, you can completely deactivate the assistance systems, e.g. on the race track. Depending on the selected mode, the display network also shows the corresponding driving information.
Configurable M brake.
Integrated braking system with precise pedal feel and M specific configurability. The new system brings together the brake activation, brake booster and braking control functions within a compact module. It also presents the driver with two pedal feel settings – COMFORT and SPORT modes alter the amount of pressure on the brake pedal required to slow the car.
M Sport exhaust system.
The M Sport exhaust system delivers a dynamic sound that can be modified via the integrated exhaust valve mechanism. The SPORT and SPORT+ programmes, which can be selected via the Driving dynamics buttons, are accentuated by an even more intense engine sound, while the comfort-oriented programme prioritises more discreet engine acoustics.

The M side gills in the front wings are designed in Black, the integrated inlay with M8 emblem in Black Chrome. With the optional M Carbon exterior package, carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used.

M gear selector.
The M gear selector in a new design features an M specific switch pattern and excellent operability. In manual "S" mode, the driver can shift gears manually using the selector lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel in typical M fashion; in "D" mode, shifting occurs automatically. The Drivelogic switch for the three shifting programmes and the P button for the parking lock are placed under the M logo.
M specific instrument cluster.
The M specific instrument cluster allows you to display additional information for particularly sporty driving. If you have selected the TRACK driving mode for race track use, you can view the boost pressure, tyre pressures and temperatures as well as the G-force of lateral and longitudinal acceleration on the instrument cluster.

The exterior elements in Galvanic Cerium Grey such as mirror caps, letterings, tailpipe finishers, Air Breather inlay, kidney frame and kidney grille slats provide a contrast to the vehicle colour. The M leather steering wheel including multifunction features the sporty three-spoke design. Entry sill with M850i designation.

M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine.
The M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine combines two turbochargers with Valvetronic fully variable valve control and the direct petrol injection High-Precision Injection. It achieves a peak output of 390 kW (530 hp) with a maximum torque of 750 Nm. Both turbochargers are positioned neatly between the cylinder banks.
Adaptive M suspension.
The Adaptive M suspension makes it possible to adjust the damper characteristics to suit any given driving situation, increasing driving dynamics and comfort. In addition to the standard COMFORT setting for increased driving comfort, the SPORT program offers more direct damper settings.
BMW xDrive.
The intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system smoothly and variably distributes drive power to the front and rear wheels for maximum traction, driving dynamics and safety in every driving situation. The innovative networking with all lateral dynamics control functions of the vehicle allows an arrangement from traction-oriented to maximal sporty driving dynamics.
M Sport brake.
Fitting of its tremendous dynamic potential, the vehicle features the high-performance M Sport brake, which always provides outstanding deceleration even with very athletic driving under wet conditions. The exclusive blue painted fixed callipers with M designation are visually striking. The front brake callipers are each equipped with four pistons, the rear callipers with a single piston each. The extra-large discs feature interior ventilation and result in outstanding braking performance.
M Sport exhaust system.
The M Sport exhaust system with two electrically controlled exhaust valves offers a powerful and sporty sound that can be adapted to the driving situation and the driver’s wishes. This makes the ride an emotional sound experience, when cruising as well as during sporty driving.
M sport differential.
The M sport differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend, when taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
Integral Active Steering.
Integral Active Steering combines support that varies based on the steering angle on the front axle, and rear wheels that also contribute to steering. At lower speeds, it offers greater manoeuvrability and agility by turning the rear wheels opposite the front wheels. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels, to increase stability and comfort.
